I picked up a 2007 Explorer xlt with 91000 miles on it. 6 with the 5 speed, It runs just fine no clanks or issues. It does ride really rough and stiff and I'm not sure why. was there a aftermarket package that changed the ride? other than that is my new snow car. Living in Idaho need one of those every so often.

Check to be sure the tires are properly inflated. Too high of pressure can make for a poor ride.

Tires as said above and possibly worn out shocks, or shocks replaced at some point with the wrong ones.
