Hello all...I'm new to this forum. I own a 1992 Exp XLT. Since last week, I've been encountering a problem while I fill fuel. As soon as the fuel is about to fill the tank, I see fuel leakage (I can surely say..."overflowing") from the bottom side of the SUV (not near the nozzle). It never happened before...It feels like, as the fuel tank is nearing full, it spills the excess.

Any ideas/suggestions on what's happening? and any idea on how much would that cost to fix? Please help me guys!!!

Thank you.

Sounds like you could have a hole in your Filler neck. I'd check under there, and see. Sorry, i wish i could be more help.

I second that. When your topping off your spilling out of that hole. Or you might have a hole in the tank around the top next to the filler neck.

I third that, look for a hole/leak from the top of the tank up to the filler neck.

Thanks guys...I'm gonna check that...and will post useful info for others here

If you lower and remove the spare tire you will be able to easily inspect the fuel filler hose(s). You also have to watch for rusted out fuel pump sending unit lines on top of the fuel tank. These 8" long hard lines are zinc coated steel and will rust over time. Luckily they attach to stainless steel OEM hoses which rarely have any problems.
