Quick question.....

I just removed my rear wiper and i also took off the "wiper rest" i put the screws back in the holes and i was wondering if that is ok i dont want water to get into my hatch

It should be fine. No more water will get in there than what would have before. The tailgate has drain holes on the bottom anyway in case anything gets in there.

The seals for that back wiper were not super tight fitting, so I am sure water drips in there during car washes or rain.

If your concerned it wouldn't hurt to put a rubber gasket around it to ensure nothing gets in that way.

actually the wiper rest is held on with nuts. You would have to get your own bolts or what have you to put in there. Personally I would use some sort of rubber plug with scillicon. You dont want water in there. The drains at the bottom are insufficent to adaquately drain rain water from the hatch.

actually i have read your post before and thats why i went ahead and removed it because when the time/funds are available, i will "shave it" completely. But the rest was held on by two phillips head screws and little rubber washers. I put the screws back in over the washers, it seems pretty watertight.

On my hatch, there were plastic inserts pressed into the small square holes, then the screws for the wiper rest were threaded into the inserts.

Might as well seal it up as good as you can though. The less water that can get in there the better.
