i am getting an muffler put on this morning..and i was looking just to see where the muffler is locataed at...and i noticed a round cylinder thing about 1 ft behind the muffler (towards the back more) what is this? is it a cat? just wondering because i want to have my flowmaster just welded up with the stock piping but if this is something that could affect the flowmaster performace i'll have them take it off.

thanks

sounds like a resonator- ditch it

expo if i snap a pic could you tell me for sure if thats what it is?

no, 'cause i'm gonna go take a physics test.

i'm almost certain thats what it is, they are usually located a little further downstream of the muffler than you made it sound.

regardless nothing that is after the muffler is smog related or necessary by any means. leaving it will reduce the noise level with the new muffler though and may help stop resonatiion in the cab. I'd definitely ditch it.

cool its gone then...thanks for the quick response!

You don't need it.

It IS a resonator to make the exhaust quieter.

Hokie took that resonator out when he replaced his muffler with flowmaster (I think) and put it back on again because the new setup was too loud. So just in case do not throw it out yet.

cool...got the 40 series non delta put on..ditched the resanator..but i held on to it just incase....

sounds great..just put my kkm on today tooo..talk about drastic change :)
