Howdy all! I'm new here and just want to say hello before continuing.
Hello.
Now on to the questions.
While tearing down the knuckle in preparation for replacing the upper and lower ball joints (way loose!), I've come up against a couple of problems. I've stripped it down almost completely and the axle is out. First, the metal casting that holds the ABS sensor in position on the knuckle is cracked. Is this a common occurence? Second, how the (*&#$@$ do I get that freaking ABS sensor out of the knuckle?! I removed the two little bolts that were holding the broken sensor thing, but the sensor itself just won't budge. I'm hesitant to wail on it with a hammer for obvious reasons, but that BFH is getting closer and closer...
Also, are there any other pitfalls, tips, etc. that I should be aware of the deeper I get into this?

Thanks,
Ed T.
BTW, anyone know of a cheap source for Factory TSMs?

Welcome to the site ED,
Go to the "Message Board" page and do a keyword search under all topics for Balljoints and you will have about 15 posts to sort through. I know there is talk about the %@&^$ ABS sensors, I have a 92' so I don't have front ABS.

Good luck and again, welcome,
FM

ABS Sensor.

I have a 94 XLT and the ABS sensor only had those 2 bolts. I was a real common size the other was a 12 point 6 mm head. I couldn't find one anywhere. I replaced them with a more common size for future R & R. If both bolts are out then the round metal sensor should lide right out the back.
Don't force it. It should come right out. You might have to give it some light "Love" taps though. I didn't and I would be very hesitant to hit the sensor.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. Just the information I needed.
