I have been soaking down all my bolts for a week now and will be attempting to change mine tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

My thanks to Chris W and CH and others who gave me some help in the general explorations part of this site. The RA bushings have now been changed out with the newer red colored ploy type. New bushings sure make a big improvement in the front end. I did mine by removing the rivets on the frame bracket, I can't say that this rivet removal project would be for everyone as it is a lot of work, all of it upside down but it can be done and now the rivets are gone and replaced with 7/16 grade 8 bolts.

i had my radius arm bushings replaced, but not with ploy, just the black rubber.do you know of there being a difference?

mohawktwo,

Poly or neoprene radius arm bushings tighten up the steering and ride a bit and last much longer that stock rubber.

Hello Mohawk2 and CH,
when I went to Checker to get the bushings they asked me if I wanted the updated-improved design for about 2 bucks more for each side so I said ok, the differences are that the poly bushings are red, harder, and have a difference in shape, the larger bushing is shorter as it goes thru the bracket but the back smaller bushing is extended thru the spacer. I do not know if these changes are better or not, time will tell.

2003 Ford Explorer Front End Bushings

HELP! I am in need of replacing the front end bushings. Other than the tires what else needs to be removed to get the job done?

Welcome to the forum. There is already a sticky on this with a complete write up. Use the search box. Should be pretty easy to find.

This "thread" is for Radius arm bushing replacement. Your 2003 doesn't have that...
