Just wondering what people have paid to have a radiator replaced.

My neighbor told me last night he shelled over $1200 for a dealer to do it?

It was everything I had in me to keep to myself that I just replaced my radiator in my '05 for a grand total of $165, and that included pre-mixed coolant because I was feeling lazy.

Thanks
Tom

At that price what else? did he get his engine rebuilt too?????LOL.

It comes down to Stealership's. They wonder why no one wants to go to a service dept. . . .no one can afford it, or they afraid that they feed on you like shark bait; with over $100 an hour, no fractions of an hour, book time and some dude trying to scare you into changing a bunch of fluids to wast more money on them. Thats the problem with them working on commission.

I only go there as a last resort. DIY is the only way to afford to keep em running.

I still can't believe he paid $1200 for a radiator replacement.

While he was showing me something else under the hood I noticed they reused the factory spring type house clamps, he didn't even get new hose clamps.

My 05 V6 cost 600 to replace at the dealer.

What's you neighbor driving, a Lamborghini? Radiators run about $400, and shouldn't take more than 1-2 hours to replace so that's about $600 like tcore83 paid.

The replies got me wondering.

I just called the local dealerships he would have.

Estimates were ~$400, ~$450, ~$600, and ~$850. The $850 stated it included the radiator, fluid, and new clamps, I didn't ask the others if that was the case. I'm starting to think my neighbor may have been exagerating a bit now.

But either way, that is quite the swing in prices for four dealerships all withing 20 miles of me.
