Started the 99 xlt up today and the entire display on the audio system is blank. No clock, no track number. no nothing. The unit still plays and all the backlights are operating. Is there a seperate fuse for the display or is the unit hooped??

Do a search on radio display and you should find a wealth of info.

It does not come with a seperate fuse for the display but it does have a seperate internal power supply.

The power supply is the thing that is giving the problem.

Get the stereo removal pins from wally world. Call pioneer and give them the info from the back of the radio. The part is about $100 but if you are a dealer ;) ;) it is about $65. They will send you 3 pieces, but the only one needing replacing is for the display. Do the search on "display fix" and you will find detailed info on disassembling the radio. Quite easy.

Good Luck!

thanks

Thanks for the info guys I will follow your leads.

Are you good with electronics soldering?

This is a know problem with the Ford Clarion Mach units. I paid $20 for instructions online how to fix it. There's a power board within the radio where the component solder needs to be reflowed. Took me a couple of times but I got it to work. Been working almost a year now.
If you buy a replacement radio (same) it may also have the problem.
