2001 ford explorer sport
Hey guys, I just purchased a 2001 explorer sport, it has the factory radio but it doesn't work. I've checked fuses and they are all good I just need a little help to lead me in the right direction to get this fixed myself.

Firstly, what radio is it?

Do you have a CD Changer and/or Rear Radio controls?
Do you have a subwoofer?

Sounds to me like it's a power issue.
Take the radio out and check the pins with a multimeter.

Here's the wiring info for it:

Check that the light green/purple wire has 12Vs running through it.
Then check that the Yellow/Black wire has 12Vs running through it when the key is in the on position of the ignition. That'll tell you whether it's a power issue or the radio is fried.
Also, check that the ground is solid.

Radio 12v lt green/purple +
Radio Ground black -
Radio Ignition yellow/black +
Radio Illumination red/black +
Factory Amp Turn-on
Power Antenna
LF Speaker +/- org/lt grn-lt blu/wh
RF Speaker +/- wht/lt grn - grn/org
LR Speaker +/- tan/yel - gry/lt blu
RR Speaker +/- org/red - brn/pnk

I don't think it is the premium sound system it doesn't have the cd changer or sub in the back it has a little cubby where the sub is supposed to be? Ill check the pins for the wires that you gave me later on ill let you know what I find

Probably the mach system.
