Radio questions

I have a 96 Explorer EB edition. The radio is getting very poor reception from very strong stations in the Metro area. The power antenna goes up and down and all the stereo functions seem to be working properly. Nothing with the radio or antenna have been tampered with in the past. Any ideas??

Maybe its time for a new aftermarket HU.
