I bought a 03 EB 4.6 AWD last month. Great truck but now starting to see a issue. When I turn the truck off I leave the radio on. When I go to re-start it the radio takes up to a minute to start up. Anyone know why this is happening? It is happening alot and then for 1 or 2 starts it starts right up when the truck is started.

I am at a loss!

Thanks

mine does this if the remote start hicups, but only for the first start up after the system hicups.

What type of remote start do you have? I ask because I have one too and mine came with one from Viper. I never had a remote start and it is awesome! With the 90 degree days, I hit the start as I approach the truck and it starts the cooling process. I guess it is some sort of remote start issue? Should I be concerned?

Do you know if the Viper is a dealer install of was it done aftermarket?

I am not sure what brand mine is because it's integrated with my factory alarm/keyless entry and it was installed by the previous owner.

Viper can be either a dealer install or aftermarket depending on what the dealer uses. I know most of the chrysler dealers on LI use AutoMate (made by the same people who make Viper).

It seems like you're having my Hicup problem in the opposite amount of times i have it. It's deff an electrical thing, just not sure what.

Thanks for the reply. This morning, I went out and the radio powered up right as I started the truck (did not use remote starting). So it definitely is hit and miss. I just wonder if there is some simple fix or is this going to only get worst and worst until the radio totally stops working.

Anyone have their radio do this (slow to power up) and then eventially totally die?

I dont think you have to worry about the radio dying; it just sounds like there is a delay in sending power to the radio.
