I was under the explorer today and noticed the hole rubber bushing is gone. The radius arm is hitting my frame now. How much do new bushings cost? and where can i get these? Will it hurt anything if i drive it like that for a few days?

I think my new bushings were like 12 dollars from carquest. I would get it fixed soon so your radius arm or the hole it goes in doesnt start to wear to much. This isnt to hard a thing to replace just have to do alittle grinding if you have rivets instead of bolts on your radius arm brackets.

I would get it fixed ASAP!!!! I personally wouldn't drive on it at all like that.

What do i put threw the old rivet holes to hold it up?

bolts crap i forget what there called i think they call them grade a bolts.

Ok sweet thanks for the quik help. Ill have her fixed tommorow.

Thanks

Rivot holes??? Did you remove the radius arm bracket?? If you ground off the rivets then just go get some grade 8 bolts and nuts. I got a set of ra bushings Moog off Ebay for like 8 dollars. But I wouldn't wait go get some locally.

Joey, read this about replacing them by the removing the rivets method: Dead Link Removed

That explains what you need to do. I am going to add 1 thing- the article says to get 1 shorter bolt, just get them all the same and put the bolt by the fuel filter from the inside pointing out. I found the easiest way to remove the rivets was with an air chisel if you have one.

I got my bushings at Auto Zone.

grade a or grade 8 whats the difference lol my bad thanks alaskanjack i had a brain fart

Thanks Brian. Does anyone know how long it will take to do this?

I'd estimate about 6 hours total if you've never done it before and are slow and deliberate. If you are a fast worker about 4 hours total. (2-3 hours per side). If you have done it before, about an hour per side.

Took me about 4 days. I broke off the 3/4" stud that holds everything together. Had to grind the old weld out, had a new stud made and welded the new one in place. I wouldn't worry about grade 8 bolts. The rivets are soft as can be. A cut-off wheel goes through them fast. Don't put a length of exhaust pipe on your wrench to bust the nut loose like I did.
