I was at Advance autoparts today...and when the guy brought up the menu for the rancho RS9000's, he said somehting like it will give about 1 or 1.5 inches of lift over stock....so i was wondering if anyone has put these on a stock explorer and if they did, did you notice any height change....thanks....

Shocks normally do not give any lift. In fact I think he may have some that are 1-1.5" taller then normal which wouldn't be good. Because they would be much easier to bottom out which can break shocks and shock mounts.

Ryan is right. You would need to tell the parts store if you already have a lift and the lift height or if you are at stock height so they can give you the correct shock length for your need. The shock should not increase the height of your truck except in the case of air shocks. The springs determine the height of the truck and the shocks are there the dampen the bumps. For this reason, the Rancho shocks are superior to the OEM gas pressured shocks. The Rancho shocks can be compressed and extended and it will stay at that compressed or extended length. Gas pressured shocks when compressed will always want to extend itself. This is what causes the side to side body sway when going over uneven gound. Rancho uses a dampening system so it cusions the bump letting your springs do the work. I wish I could explain it better, but I think going with the 9000s are a good choice. Just make sure you get the right shock length for your needs. Hope this helps.

i have rancho rs9000xl with the rcx air dampening system.
