The only bad thing I've "heard" about the rsx shocks is that they are shorter than the rs9000 for the same application. If you order an RSX and an rs9000 for a 2.5" lifted explorer (rancho lift) the RSX shock is actually shorter than the rs9000.
We have a set of rs9000's on our Explorer (1992) and now have 80k miles on them. I used to drive with them set at 2 up front and 3 in the back.. now I use 3 up fron tand 4 in the back.. (on city roads).. I drop them 1 notch when I'm wheeling.
I can confirm that the RSXs are shorter than stock for a stock application or TT lift. They also "wear out" quickly as mine were only on for 6 months before they softened up too much. Lastly, one of them broke a couple of weeks ago. The top mounting bracket split in two.
Go with the 9000s!
