Random Hose Dangling Beside Transmission?

I was underneath my 2005 Sport Trac today, when I noticed an odd metal "hose" beside my transmission that leads to nowhere. Could any of you guys tell me what this hose is? I'm a bit of a newb to vehicle mechanics/repair, but never noticed it before.
