Random parts found under the hood...

lol i know this sounds stupid but i keep finding random parts under the hood of my 95 x. The most recent is a vacume line just sitting between where the spark plugs go, i found it when replacing my alternator. Other things i have found have been rags, fuses, a fuse box, and other misc. parts.

Its really concerning me, the truck runs fine, except for i need to replace my alternator again because this one makes a really loud whinning noise and when in idle the battery meter goes down, but when moving it is normal and it gets really hot.

But should i be worried about this stuff? I havent found anything "missing" per say, as i said the truck runs fine its just a little worriesome.

What kind of engine?

The vaccum line could be the one that goes to the reservoir, the air cleaner, maybe 4WD. It may no longer be needed if there's an external air filter. Or it could be left over from a new line being run. They are very brittle.
The questions is, is it connected to anything on either end? Small leaks can lead to reduced gas milage.

Your troubleshooting of the alternator sounds accurate. I bought my alternator at NAPA with a lifetime warranty. I've gotten two free replacements in twelve years.

was this part there after you did some work on it....or had someone else.....and do you feel any suction coming from it???? And what exactly do you mean by found a fuse box?????
