Ranger cruise control swich replacement

Hi All, I'm a newbe to this forum and to the world of FORD. Actually the FORD part is not entirely true. My first car (55 years ago) was a 35 coupe. Wish I still had it. Now I,m the proud owner of a 03 RANGER. My question is: how do I replace the cruise control ON-OFF switch without activating the air bag.

disconnect the battery. leave it unhooked for about 45 minutes, do the work, than once it is all back together , reconnect ,,

Thanks Corky...I assumed that the battery needed to be disconnected but I don't know how to remove the steering wheel center piece (horn).

on the side there are some plastic plugs that need to be pulled out to expose the airbag bolts,
once they are out the airbag comes off, and the bolts and wiring are exposed,

be carefull of the clockspring in there,
