Hey guys its been a while since i've been on here. But i got a problem. When I'm driving around post and I am going 25mph and not pressing on the gas I have a weird rattling sound. Not quite sure where it is coming from. Sounds like its coming from the exhuast area but not quite sure. Soon as I step on the gas though it goes away. And if im only doing 20mph there is no rattle. Any ideas.

Check to see if your valve body is ok, usually the noise will get louder if it's a valve problem. I have a problem that's probably the same as yours in my 97 explorer sport. The timing chain tension spring if it's broke at idle with low oil presure will make a wierd clatter noise at higher rpm the noise goes away due to higher oil presure and tension on the chain. In order to get to the passenger side you will need to pull the motor. If it's on the drivers side you might get away with not pulling the motor. Good Luck ... Terry in Colorado
