I have a rebuilt valve body from Central Valve Body installed in my wifes 98 Explorer for about 3 weeks now and it works great and makes the car a pleasure to drive again. Before the new valve body it was sluggish and had the 2/3 flare and engine preformance was not great. Now, it will more than keep up with traffic and go up hills without any drama or issues. It has been a real success. Thanks again to all on this forum for the help and correct advice. Pete

The 5R55E was new for FORD in that it was all electronic shifting...... AND had "modulated" solenoids. The wear in the valve body was something no one anticipated... and is also why the 5R55E benefits from a VB replcement so soon.

Thanks for the post !

How many miles? 85000 miles

The Explorer has around 85000 total mile but the transmission was replaced by Ford under warranty about 50000 miles ago. I thought that I would have to change spark plugs and coil packs because it ran so poorly but after the valve body was replaced it runs great. I NEVER did have any codes on my Actron CP145 and without this site which I first came to for the Radio display problem I do not think I would have fixed it. So thanks again.
