ok heres the deal after replacing my tranny with a good used one. I now have a pronounced shudder around 60 mph. The darn thing shudders so bad that it feel like its gonna shake its self apart. I am thinking that either the trans mount has gone bad or maybe a bad U joint. I actually have time to work on it tomorrow and wanted a starting point to look at anyone else run across this before :navajo:

Check the drive shaft and see if it threw a weight. Also, check your fan, sometimes when they throw a blade the engine will shimmy or shudder.

Did you seperate the driveshaft, and then reassemble it out of phase?

yup, check the driveshaft to make sure its in phase, and did you matchmark the yoke?? make sure you did, and lined them up on reassy.

also, radius arm bushings, wheel balance, ect can cause it.

my 92 had a bad ra bushing, I changed it, now I can drive 65 without it shaking apart, but it still vibrates. I suspect mine is out of balance wheel.

ok heres what I found the fan is intact the drive shaft is installed right I paint marked it when it came out I replaced the trans mount it did have a small tear on one side the only other thing I can come up with is I know my ball joints are bad there on the short list Im thinking they have worn the tires unevenly and is causing my shudder

what condition are the radius arm bushings in??

remember, right side bushing should have a heat shield, left wont. if the heat shield is gone, chances are the bushing is toast (literally, they get cooked by the exhaust).

also, if they are bad, carefully check the radius arm mounts (left and right), the hole they mount in may be elongated, and will cause all sorts of problems.

also, as you mentioned, ball joints can do it too.

RA bushings are in good shape I replaced them last summer I checked em today no play and no thumping like before they were replaced
