REALLY need help with Seafoam on my 2000 5.0 V8

In my searching on the board most people say the brake booster line is no good. That's the only backing evidence I have.

Well I did the brake booster line and got pleanty of suction and tons of smoke. I'm curious to see if performance has increased but have not had a chance to take it for a ride yet. I'll post back.

Sounds like indeed the brake booster vacuum line did just fine for you.

I took the X for a ride tonight and really didn't notice any difference in performance (not that it wasn't fine). The real test is to see if this will bring up my pitiful 10-13 MPG.

I wonder if it is worth doing it a couple more times? Will that hurt?

Well unless it's my imagination, after a day it seems that my X is pulling stronger than it was before the seafoam treatment. Now when I take off the truck seems to gain speed with much less effort :D.

So will running the Seafoam again hurt anything? I feel that perhaps there is more gunk that I can get rid of by running the rest of the 2/3s can.

Glad to hear it worked out for you spta97. Looks like im going to have to do it now lol. Might be a good thanksgiving project. It may be the computer relearning some and thats why it feels a little better now. You might try disconnecting the battery afterwards nexttime if you do the other 2/3 and let it reset if you didnt this time that is. Seroiusly how much smoke does come out i dont want some neighbor to call the fire dept or something? Does it atleast dissipate fast? Let alone what my parents will say since ill be at home then. I can hear it now what did you do to your car? seafoam. :D

Poor it very slowly into your throttle body... very very slowly.. thats how I did it on my 5.0 mustang anyhow, worked like a charm!

This much smoke:

This is Aldive's picture but it was pretty much the same thing for about 5 - 7 minutes. I revved the engine too until there was no more smoke. It was a lot but it dissapates pretty quickly. It was actually quite cool

Did you have the intake hose off? I worry about bypassing the air filter when the engine is running. I'm paranoid that dust / dirt will get in there and cause more harm than good. I've read other posters using DeepCreep (a form of Seafoam) this way with good results.

What possible harm could bbe done in the several minutes its off?

I read that as putting the stuff in slowely while the engine was running.

if u don't get a lot of smoke... doesn't that mean your engine was pretty clean to start out with?

Temperature and humidity also affect how much smoke you get.

It was a brisk 45 degrees with low humidity (30% +/-) for my smoke show.

For the second time in 2 weeks i Seafoamed. The first time was with the BrakeBooster line; Today i pulled the intake hose off and used a squirt bottle to send it right into the Throttle Body. Although it was messy with the TB (air & vibration caused the seafoam to spray all over - in small amounts), i did notice much more smoke for a longer time than with the BB line. As Rhett mentioned, the temp & humidity was different than last time, so that may have made it seem like more/longer smoke. Puttin it through the TB did seem to smoothe out my idle better than the last time, and the throttle response seems stronger than before.

This being MY 2-cents, to each his own.

I'm going to see if I can find deep creep - it is better suited for the TB method. Apparently you put it in with the engine off but warm.
