really stupid question re: lights

what do the orange lights under the headlights do? are they signal lights? what do the side orange lights do? I haven't seen the ex run in....,well ever really, i got it as a junker to play with..

On the 1st generation X the skinny light below the headlight and wrapping around the side it the turn/parking light. The small orange peice that is beside the headlight is a reflector.
