I have a 2004 expl with some play in both "tie rod ends" in the rear. I know they are not called that, but I don't know their name. I posted a picture here with them, maybe someone knows how they are called and where I can buy them from.
The dealer can order them but wants a fortune for each (and it only came as an assembly - inner and outer together).
Many thanks

Called a toe link. Can order online. Many people here used Silverstateford.com FYI, you can see some of the illustrations on the website. Before you order them double check that the problem is not the rear hub bearings. The bearing fails and you can wiggle the tire and wheel and knuckle assembly. The toe link connects to the knuckle and you may be mislead that's it failed when the problem is the bearing. Bearing failure does not always howl at first. Also check the axle nut, just to be sure.

Thanks for replying. I bought a "toe link" from rockauto and they sent me something different and I had to return it.
I know that at least one of my rear bearings are bad and I will change one over the weekend, but I felt the play in this part so I know it is bad.
I searched silverstateford and could not locate the part. Probably I will and up getting one from a junkyard. Thanks again!

Toe link Here you go on the part.
There is slight play in toe link. The side that connects to knuckle has a ball joint and will have a bit of movement. Grab tires at 3 and 9 o'clock position and wiggle to check bearing.

Thanks again! The ball joint of the toe link has a play of approx 2mm (1/10"). I wanted to get an alignment and I was afraid that it couldn't be done due to this play.
The car is at the dealer and they supposed to finish it today. Unfortunately the new part that they ordered was damaged and they have to keep the car a few extra days. I will be able to take care of the bearings only next week.
