OK...I'm looking to (eventually) replace the factory HU w/ something aftermarket which will deem the rear audio controls USELESS. What have the rest of you done in this situation? Just leave 'em there, remove/cover, replace w/ something?

I'm just looking to weigh some options for when the time comes...ps...pics would be greatly appreciated (unless of course you just left it alone...I already know what that looks like)

Well a while back I saw an aftermarket unit that looks like the factory one but hasmor epower and features and stuff, but still uses the rear audio controls.

coatsville man? send me a pm... i am in malvern, wouldnt mind meeting up with you.

Well I just got me a Rockford Fosgate RFX 9400 and it has something that will allow you to have rear controls so that the passengers in the back can listen to the radio, cd, or whatever's coming though the two aux inputs and control the volume, I'm not exactly sure how it hooks up, but I'll look into it to see if it could interface with the X console (I don't have one of those consoles) But it was pretty cheap for a RF MP3 head unit, like 200 bucks from ubid.com.

There are some devices that can allow you to use them. If your radio has a infered remote these device will learn your remote and rebroad cast it when you press a button on the rear controls. You can try AAMP.com and look at there Peripheral products or try soundgate.com

Hey Jason , can you get me a bit more info on that factory appering HU
