Just want to let everyone know I found a real beefy rear-diff guard over at http://www.purplecranium.com/products/c-49_spider_rock_guards.html for the Ford 8.8"
They make a half spider and a full spider for the 8.8. I just installed mine and it was real easy, comes with 1/4" stainless steels alans that are countersunk. 69 dollars for a half and 105 for the full "spider". (They look like a steel spider web around the diff). I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but as you all well know when someone actually makes something for our Ex's that work, it's unfortunately something to get excited about. Anyway, I'm gearing up for a trip to Rubicon in June and am trying protect whatever I can so I went with the full spider. The rear sway bar might be in your way if you still run with one, but after installation of the cage it should go right back on. Also, if you haven't threaded a drain plug into your cover yet I'd do that to as messing around with these alans isn't something I want to do very often, but at least the bolts can't be sheared off. Anyway, this thing is nice, and the people were cool so I thought I'd share the info.
