go to the wreakers and buy a disk rear end ? i have no idea which one will fit but im sure that some one here will

My Mountaineer has them. I assume the 5.0 Ex's do too?
If so grab the 8.8 out of one of them, or ger the calipers, brackets, rotors etc and add them to your rear. (not sure if the axle length is different on the disk/non disk 8.8?)
-I am more of a Mustang guy :)

If you get an axle with disks from the wrecker, MAKE SURE the axle ratio is the same as your current one!

All the 8.8s are the same size. You could convert your rear to disc with '95 to current rear kits or swap the whole rear end from the same years. Check out the main page, there are great writeups in the Explorer tips section. Read up very carefully before starting any such project.

You will also need to change the master cylinder, drums need 10lbs of hydraulic pressure, discs need 2lbs. Then the ABS system will need to be bled electronically. FYI.

As said before, you can use a complete rear end from any 95+ X or mountaineer. They're all the same. V8 or V6.

I missed the boat on Ebay the other night, There was a conversion kit, minus the calipers, that you could bolt on, for 100$. But I stopped to think about it for an hour, and then it was allready sold.
I have a set of like new calipers, and the rotors are easy to get, so I'm just looking for the (caliper mounting brackets)? I'm really just trying to figure out how to mount the calipers to the axle. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Have pictures? Thanks again!
