Rear door issues with my truck

I have an ’03 F250. I usually don’t open the rear door. I just put the stuff I have to, over it. This time I had to carry logs, so I decided to open it. The lock seems to be stuck. Should I just call a locksmith?

Being an '03, I'm assuming it does not have the tailgate lock, is that right?

Most likely it is just rusted up from lack of use. spray a bunch of PB Blaster in there and see if it loosens up. It may take some force. You may have to pull the handle to get to the cables. I don't remember whether it is possible to reach the latches from inside the bed.

I thought so too, mate. As it turns out, the locksmith said that the lock latch had been bent from inside. Happens with the oldies.
