Over the past 3 weeks I've been collecting parts from all over to replace and rebuild the rear diff and suspension.

So last night I finished the rear diff rebuild, with the good used item coming from chris, you would think that a rear diff for a car would fit across the width of the same car - not a chance - Chris and I had to Man-handle it over the LPG tank and sit it on top :D.

I've replaced all bearings, seals and LSD clutches, the end float on the hubs is now less than 1mm, (my current diff has an end float of 6mm). and given it all a nice coat of black hammerite

All the hand brake, foot brake and discs are also new.

On the suspension I have new shocks (all three), spring bushes, anti-roll bar drop links and bushes. Most of it has come from Rock Auto

So I for one am pleased that there is a royal wedding on Friday as it means I can get on a fit it all without the wife wanting to go out anywhere- wish me luck

Did my rear anti roll links, rubbers and the single shock 2 weeks ago.
Made a huge difference to the feel of the car.(2000 north face)
Previously did same to front links, rubbers, shocks and hubs.
Car now rides very well with no squeeks or groans and much reduced sea sickness.
Do the rear air shocks deteriorate or just fail? Mine are in a shocking rusty state but still seem to function.
Seen them on Rock Auto but not gone for them yet!

after 175k miles, the main shocks leak air, started last year on holiday when fully loaded, now it's worse as they need pumping every 5 mins with the kids in the back, yes my are also rusty but it is the air bags that are shot, the 5th shock is also weeping.

Like you I did a complete front end rebuild last year so it will soon be all good

I can't believe the transformation

I've managed to finish the rear rebuild at lunch time, first test drive and I can't believe the change, I wish I has done it 70k miles ago!

I guess these things degrade gradually and you don't realise how bad it was, but when my kids call it a jelly car it's time to do it

off out to enjoy a drive
