The driver side rear glass hinge cracked on me. I managed to get the glass closed and seems to be secure, however none of the local dealers have the hinge in stock and wouldnt have the part in until early next week. The passenger side hinge is good, but was wondering if I am still ok to drive it around for the weekend and use the full liftgate as long as I don’t open the glass?

Also has anyone used the eBay ones with success? I’m looking at around the same time frame, but for $20-something for two seems like a much better deal

Did you ever get this solved? My passenger side hinge just let go this morning. The hinge looks ok but the rivet holding it on seems to have let go. Looking for instructions on how to repair.

Found this on youtube:

Appreciate any other info from others that maybe have done this project before.

Thx.

I ended up purchasing the eBay ones. A pair cheaper than I can get a single ford one, how could I go wrong? I didn’t install them yet as I am tending to some other issues first, but they seem pretty solid. Thank for the video though. That will be very useful for when I get around to this

Something I would add to that video. Just finished the job and it went ok but I think it would've been easier to disconnect the shocks that hold the glass up before removing the hinges. You have to open the glass to do that and if one of the hinges is completley broken from the mounting, it's a little trickier to do. I raised up the whole hatch first part way, then opened the glass very slowly. One of my hinges was totally separated from the glass so as soon as I opened the glass, the shock tried to push it down. Caught it in time. After opening the glass I had someone hold it while I disconnected the shocks. Then closed it carefully so as not to mess up the alignment. Replaced the hinges, then reconnected the shocks.

Also, you only have to pull down part of the plastic beauty cover, don't need to remove it completely, just enough to reach the two nuts holding on the hinge to the steel portion of the body.

The rest was a piece of cake. I left the fasteners just a little loose and closed the hatch, then the window, to check alignment, which was fine. Then tightened up the fasteners.

Makuloco also has a video for this and he strongly recommends doing it out of the heat to avoid breaking the glass when tightening the fasteners.

Let me know if you have questions.

BTW, I bought them off Amazon. $35 for the pair.
