Rear ground clearance without SOA

whole kit...

EMC99 I should clarify what I said earlier about a whole kit- Dyna Trac has kits for Jeeps which have a shock mount in a different place than the Explorer, and looking over my notes from my phone conversation he wasnt interested in doing the shock mounting - moving it etc. The whole kit was $130. - which frankly I thought was a bit much. So I asked about seperate pieces and was quoted $25 or so for the bottom plates - a flat piece of steel with a two grooves machined in place. I could live with that and source the rest of what I need locally, u-bolts a top saddle, and a shock mount- either on the axle or on the saddle. Ive come to the conmclusion that on the axle would be better just how to do it is the question. Im going out now to measure the Chevy axle I have in my pickup see if it might work as the top saddle.

What about...???

What if we turn upsidedown ours shock mounts and change the side of it, left to right and right to left side, then the shock mount will be like an inch highest than stockers does, I really think this could work, but has no time to probe it, maybe this is what Ray Lobato was talking about, so what about some pics Ray?? a diagram of what you did, will be helpfull too, (maybe this is too much) please let me now if I'm right about this....

Yes you are correct, you can turn them over, but you have to weld a plate on the other side then just make the hole for the spring bolt to go through. Ray Hutchinson does have his set up this way. I'll give him a holler and see if he has any pictures.

Sorry about that I tought I hit the quote button.

is there any way we can do this without welding..... i wanna change em around for better clearence.. but i cant weld.

Realocating the shocks...

This will not give us any clearence, but actually it will protect the shock from some of the rocks out there... I'm runnig my X without the rear antisway bar, so two holes are clear for realocating the shocks, but the higher one, well its to high for my shock, so, I'm planning to make something like this...
Dead Link Removed
