Rear hatch central locking

Ok Guys the rear door no longer locks / unlocks on central lock mode all it does it makes a grrrr sound so something is loose I think. The haynes manual says undo plastic rivets, what plastic rivets!

Help as noise is driving me mad!

To take off the rear panel. Undo the two screws that hold the handle on. Lift the cover plate by the window and remove the screw. The top pulls away around the window and then the whole panel lifts up on L shaped clips.
