You will need to:
- Remove the rear interior door handle
- Pop the plastic trim cap next to the lock indicator and remove the screw holding the trim to the hatch
- Then slide the trim panel toward the top of the hatch and off the hatch.
(There will be some access holes to get to the handle...)
- Remove the 2 bolts holding the handle on
- Unhook the lock actuator form the handle
- Pop the handle off the hatch from the outside, you might need to pry it a little to break the seal.
- Not too hard at all, replaced it on my '95 Ex because my handle was really hard to turn.
BTW- Don't worry if it looks like nothing is hooked to the handle inside, it really just has the lock actuator attached to it, but the two trips for the glass and hatch are not attached to it, when the handle turns, it has a little knob that contacts the respective stuff and moves them to open the hatch or glass.
All you need to hook up when reinstalling is the lock actuator... If your handle isn't locking, make sure your lock actuator is hooked up- maybe it has come off somehow.
Hope this helps- good luck and welcome to the forum!
