- 1995 Explorer XLT 4WD
I’m planning a 1 1/2” TT front lift on my 27k mile 1995 4WD Explorer XLT that doesn’t seem to have much if any rear sag. I plan on going with adjustable Rancho 9000XL front shocks and was considering going with the Rear Monroe rear load adjusting coilover shocks in back. I have read a lot of post about using the coilover rears to reduce sag in the rear but if I don’t have sag currently will they actually raise the rear end themselves. Originally I was going to add a set of Rocktrix 2” shackles along with the Monroe coilovers but I don’t want to be any more than 1 1/2” to 2” higher in the back. If the Monroe shocks actually do lift it I would be tempted to try them without the shackles first. I plan on replacing the rear shocks either way and I can get the Monroe load adjustable shocks new from a friend for half the price of any other Rancho or Bilstein shocks and although I don’t necessarily plan to tow with it I will have a fair amount of gear in the back at times. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.
