I just noticed some leaking at about the center of the rear axle. Could it be the rear diff fluid? Also Im bringing it in on Monday to get it fixed. Is it ok to drive until then. It doen't appear to be leaking much or fast but ther is a small puddle on my garage floor from the past week. Thanks.

Me too

Yes My 03 explorer has the same I think it's coming from the cover plate, and the Mechanic tightend it and put silicon on it and it seems to be leaking more, spots in the driveway and that.
I’ve only had the ex a couple of months and ask the guy I bought it off to fix it he sent me to the macanic to patch it. They said that they did not have to add fluid to it. so I guess that means there not going to fix it beyond what they did, and it’s ok. And that if I wanted it fixed that it would cost 1500 bucks and that Id have to take to the ford.

What.
I ask an other mechanic and he looked it up and said that you have to remove the whole diff because it’s attached to the frame or something, but that the whole labor cost just to do that is 4 hours so what ford gets 400 an hour?

I guess I have to take it to someone else to find out what the heck.
I could use some solid guidance on this one thanks

Could also be the axle seals on each side. You should be able to crawl under and see where its coming from.

Thats what it was for me. Driver side axle seal. The Dodge dealership I bought it from fixed it for me and I even got them to service the rear diff. No charge. But I did just buy it last week. Either way thats one thing I can check off my list of "to do's"

Not sure. The statement showed a zero balance cause it was still under a 3k mile warranty. I am curious though how much it would have cost.

Sounds about right. My dad had his done for just under $600 for both sides.

Well, I had it looked at, and plan to see it’s coming from the axle seal. I got a price of, well the guy said for all three seals, since it’s apart you know makes sense to do them,
500. But reading this post I have a feeling that will go the 600, when the job is done, He said about 8 hours labor.
I got the ex over 3 months ago it’s out of the warranty he gave me, an 03 with less than 60,000 on it I paid almost 9 grand with the tax. He will go for 200 dollars for the repairs, I guess that’s something.
