My rear lift gate will not shut right. Its off kilter. Went camping this weekend and went to shut my rear door and the hydraulic lift fell off. Noticed that the plate the the hydraulic attaches to is very loose and eventually fell off too. Which in turn thru the door off and now it doesn't completely shut. Did a search on this message board regarding lift gate and apparently the 94's and 95's had a recall on the very part in question. Called Ford and of course they say no such recall exists on mine (97 XLT).
Anybody have any advice for fixing this problem. Thanks, first time to post. Love the info on this forum, very helpful.
