Hello, I have removed the liftgate pullstrap assembly from my X Sport as it broke off on one end of the strap. I figured that I could remove the strap very simply, put anither hole in it and replace it no problem...
Now it's in my house and I'm looking at it like a dear caught in the headlights as I can not even figure out how to remove the strap from the plastic assembly!
Can anyone help out with some good advice and has anyone been here, done that?

Thanks,

id just replace the strap.don't know bout the 02 but my 94 only has one screw holding the strap in place

yeah just get a new one, it cant be an expensive part. I took mine off completly because it drove me insane rattling all the time back there.

time to find a junkyard.....

Years ago my Dad's lab chewed the strap off his 91. Since then the vehicle became mine. I bought a strap at a junk yard. Don't rememebr how much I paid, but it was cheap. If I'd looked deeper into options I'd have gone to a pick-and-pull to get more compatible color. Original was blue replacement is tan. Only problem with pick-and-pulls is they typically charge just to enter so if you need a hard-to-find but inexpensive part, it might not be worth it to you...then again, maybe it is! In any event, as I don't need any other parts right now, I'm trying to figure out if there is a spray paint which will adhere and last.

BTW, Red.Eddie - I was derelict having meant for months to post my pleasure with the B-W 1354 conversion kit I bought from Doug. I bought and installed one and I am very pleased. The workmanship is first-rate and it functions very well. Doug's instructions which were photograph-supported were easy to follow even for a non-mechanic such as myself. I also changed out the differential cover to a steel one and am pleased with that modification also. Please feel free to copy and post this anywhere you deem appropriate as I'd like others to hear about Doug's great creation. Ripper69

There's plenty of Explorers on Kijiji. A strap is only held on by 2 scews and takes about 2 mins to swap out, just make sure to get the right colour.
