I just acquired a 2003 Explorer with only 42K miles.
The rear driver's side power window is not working. Fortunately, its stuck in the up position. The previous owner says the window was repaired several times under warranty with the same issue and has worked intermittantly for the life of the vehicle.
I would like to FIX the problem so it works all the time. Plus I have a window tinting appointment scheduled for Saturday morning, so I need it fixed by then
I would prefer to avoid the dealership but if thats what it has to be then it has to be.
I hear no motor noise when the switch on the driver door is actuated nor when the switch on the back door is actuated. There are no other electrical issues on the vehicle and I cannot find any damage to the wiring. Given that it works sometimes and not others, I am assuming the wiring is intact.
Could it be as simple as replacing the motor? I am sure I could handle that task myself with little trouble. (I did it in my F150 a couple years back).
I found that Ford issued a TSB on the issue (Number 04259) but I cannot find the full text of that bulletin anywhere online to see what the solution is.
The motor can't be that expensive or difficult to install but if anyone knows any tricks to verify it was the motor I wold be grateful.
Thanks.
