Rear quarter panel was hit why would the repair shop paint half the back passenger door when it was not touched I was just wondering I've never had to have any work done to my explorer or any vehicle so I have no idea the reason I'm asking is cause the paint job that was done on the rear panel and half the door doesn't match at all

Depending on the color/paint some blend the newly painted panel into the pre existing body panels. Had to have my back cab door and front fender blended into the passenger side door of my tux black f1.

Paint blend. It is completely standard operation procedure.

Usually if you have the fresh color within eight inches of an adjacent panel, you will need to pull the color into the adjacent panel in order to achieve optimal color match.
