Rear Speakers How do you get them out.

I just bought a 2001 Explorer and was wondering if the rear grills just pop off or do I have to remove the whole panel to get the speakers out??

I have not seen the inside of a '01 yet, but I would bet that you have to take of the door panels to get the speakers out. In my '95 the grill is actually part of the door. Taking the door panel off is not that hard...I did it without even using the "special tool". Just be careful not to pull too hard at first, especially if you have power windows/locks.

2door or 4 door?? if its a 2 door, just pop out the grill, a 4 door i believe that you have to remove the whole door panel.

Gee I thought you guys here where hardcore Explorer fans and would have known the 2001 4 door isnt even out!!! Just kidding but yes it is a 2 door and I figured I just had to give the grilles a nice tug to snap them off.

dont tug on them, press downward (toward the ground) on the tops side, then just pull the grill out, you should then be able to unscrew the speaker from there.
