Rear speakers???

Hey Audio guys, new Explorer owner here. I got a '96 XLT a few weeks ago and had an Alpine CD player installed. Question is: I noticed what looks like a couple of speaker grills in the back door, kinda oval shaped.
1) Are these for speakers?
2) Are they pre-wired?
3) What size speakers do they take?
4) Any suggestions for which brand (not too expensive)?

1. Yes, you do have speakers under them
2. Yes, since there are speakers under there unless the person that owned it before you removed them.
3. 6x8 or 5x7
4. Pioneers if you want to save some money, others may disagree as different people have different opinions.

Thank You! It doesn't appear that there are speakers in there so I'll have to rectify that. I assume you take the whole panel off?

Your welcome, glad to help ! To make sure there are speakers under there, set your heaunit to just play to the rear. Just adjust the fade all the way to the rear. If you here sound back there, then you have speakers under there like you should. If not, then your speakers are missing in action.
