I have a rear transmission leak and am trying to replace the seal. My question is if i can just slip the driveshaft out and how? or if i need to drop the whole trans. and go from there? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Travis

do you have a 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive?

from where exactly os leaking?

i know that 2 wheel drive driveshaft connects to transmission which if you disconnect it you going to loose transmission fluid.

Welcome to this forum! On a 2WD, you have to disconnect the U joint that is connected to the rear differential in order to pull out the driveshaft. The 4WD has a rear transfer case bolted to the transmission. Check to see where your leak is coming from before disconnecting everything by placing some cardboard under your vehicle overnight. Make sure that you thoroughly clean everything before parking it for the night. It will be much easier to diagnose this way.
