when i lowered my ex, i had to put on longer u joints. Just put the back of the frame on jack stands right in front of the leaf springs, make sure either the tires are on the ground or you have somethin supporting the axel so it doesn't fall. Overall, its fairly easy.

psychotic, you put on u-bolts, not u-joints. From what I've seen it seems kind of involved but definitely can be done at home. I think you would need a vice and a few pieces of pipe of different diameter, and of course, a BFH. You may want to buy a Haynes manual too.

sorry bout that hehe, but ya like i was saying u-bolts are easy ;)

A cheap 3/4" Socket works great for fitting over the U-Joint Bearing cap to beat on... Just prop up the Driveshaft over the opposite side Bearing cap and grab the BFH and whack away at that. Just a tip, remove the Snap Rings before beating out the Bearing caps. Also remember to pack the new u-joints with Grease properly.:D

A 1/2" dia bolt and a vice or box end wrench works well for hammering the ends out. Spray with WD40 and let sit for a couple minutes before beating. Should come out easy. When putting back on the truck press the one side in and then the other so that the pins inside dont fall down and get mangled. Do not use a hammer to whack. If you must use a hammer then gently tap.
