Well, I ordered a 17" by 17" version of this to put on my back window..when I started to worry about laws. The sticker is die cut, meaning the only parts I wont "be able to see through" are the black lines. (the white parts wont be there)

Then I found this Virginia law...
It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in the Commonwealth with any object or objects, other than a rear view mirror, sun visor, or other equipment of the motor vehicle approved by the Superintendent, suspended from any part of the motor vehicle in such a manner as to obstruct the driver's clear view of the highway through the windshield, the front side windows, or the rear window, or to alter a passenger-carrying vehicle in such a manner as to obstruct the driver's view through the windshield. However, this section shall not apply (i) when the driver's clear view of the highway through the rear window is obstructed if such motor vehicle is equipped with a mirror on each side, so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for at least 200 feet to the rear of such vehicle

Im wondering if they'll consider the sticker blocking my view, even though I have plenty of room on either side of it to see behind me..and Im also wondering how far back you can see with the stock explorer mirrors? At least from what I can see from VA LAW, it seems that if you can see 200 feet behind you, then you can block your rear window.. I might just buy some towing mirrors to leave attached forever, just to be able to leave that sticker on. Opinions??? Thanks!

From the way I read it your fine as long as you have side mirrors. (200 feet isnt that far and the explorer mirrors easily do that.)

You'll be fine.. the laws were written that way because some pass vehicle's that are used commercialy don't have back window's, like 18 pass vans, your mirror's will allow you to see farther that 200ft to the rear..

You could actually block off your back window's if you wanted to...

just my .02

Just my input: sounds to me like you'll be fine
