haha yeh.. how else am i supposed to get rid of tailgaters.. I hit the rear washer button and people back off.. It's crazy robb.. its a California thing.
I've had same problem a couple of times, I didn't have to replace motor though. What I did was noticed that where the wiper arm connects to the motor shaft the shaft has a rubber membrain around it so i pulled on it right where the arm connects to motor shaft a few times while I had the wiper turned and it started working. The motor shaft does give some about an 1/8 of an inch or so,try that 1st.
This is a pretty popular problem. There are tons of threads on it! Seems the most popular fix is to slam your hatch shut a few times and the motor will start to work again!
I notice if I have not turned the rear wiper motor on for a few weeks...it always will not work. I get out, slam the hatch a couple of times (sometimes a couple more times!) and it starts working again.
Who knows what is really going on in there, but tons of people on here say there wipers do the same thing.

Mine is broken, since it doesn't wipe correctly to begin with, I haven't even bothered with it.
Sometimes, it magically works when I try it.
I don't know how this will help you, but, meh.
Mine did the off and on thing for a while before it finally died. I ended up letting the dealer replace the motor at a cost of about $80 (that was after some was covered by my extended warantee). They sell rebuilt motors online for about $50 but I'm not sure how difficult the job would be.
I was surprised how much power a working motor had. The new one wipes quite fast whereas the old one struggled even when it was working.
