I use BOSCH blades from discount auto parts... they are like $20
You could always get PIAAs, but I usually just get blades that are near the $30 range.

yeah-but

i think i did buy the bosch brand last time and i think i had the same trouble gettin' it on there. where do i get the piaa brand? the last brand i used that was trouble free was triton. i used to buy them at the champion auto stores here in the area, but i cannot find them now. those blades just snapped on, there was some form of internal locking on them. the other that i have tried recently have a latch you have to swing open and on the rear wiper - that's impossible, cuz there's a thing in the way. excuse my techno-speak.

they are fairly easy... gut pop a mini screwdriver under the arm and pop it off.... it uses the same wiper blade as a jeep wrangler fron windshiel... its either 12" or 13"

I had a hard time finding an aftermarket blade that would fit the arm properly. I finally bought one from the dealer. I believe that it is a 12" long blade. The first and second gen appear to be the same until the rear hatch changed on the 98 and later models.

sounds like a plan!

thanks. it's good to hear that some one else out there has experienced my pain.

I also remember that it wasn't too expensive from the dealer - less than $10 as I recall. I will look up the part number and price later when I get home.

I tried a Bosch wiper on the rear and it wouldn't fit the arm correctly or wipe the glass completely.

Sears carries a 12inch that will fit the arm. Only problem is, the "suspension" on it is too thick and it won't seat right in the cradle. So from what dogfriend said, I'm running to the Ford dealer tomorrow!!

I'm not positive this is the correct part, but I think it may be the rear wiper blade:

18136 Univ.Mount $5.69

I bought it on 4/13/99

rear wiper

When I saw what they want for a rear blade I said "forget it". For the few times it's used compared to the front, I wondered if I could cut down a used front blade. Did it and it works fine! Have replaced it a few times already with good results. Only thing is that the end of the blade frame has to be slightly bent to keep the rubber blade from slipping out. A couple of minutes with a pair of needle nose pliers will save you a few bucks. I cut the metal blade stiffeners with some side cutters. Tin snips could be used also. Just score the metal, then bend it back and forth until it snaps off. Its kind of tough, because its stainless. I'd rather use the money saved on something more useful.

I've also never been able to find an aftermarket replacement for the rear wiper that would sit in the cradle properly, I get them from Ford too.

Isn't it much easier to just replace the blades? $4 for a pair at Autozone. I just cut it to size and slip it in there using the same metal piece that is already there.

Good point LOL. The Ford blades are refillable? See some aftermarket ones, like the Bosch, aren't. That is, you have to replace the whole blade.

I use a 15" blade and increase the swept area. I usually find that an ANCO from Walmart works best.
