I just got back from my dealer after having the update installed. Apparently I'm my dealer's first customer that was actually required to go in for the update, and was not going to receive the packet at home. Because at first he insisted that I'd receive a packet. He was surprised at this, and went to check as to why.

What he found out was that the earlier builds could overheat during the update. (as some of you already stated). Something about the sensor.

What dates of build constitute an "early build"? I was surprised today to learn, via syncmyride.com, that I have to go in for the update. Bought it in May 2011, and I want to say it was a March 2011 build. I have to look again to make sure.

I was really looking forward to avoiding that.

A mid-May 2011 build did NOT require a visit to the dealer.

Sorry, I didn't find out. I believe mine is a Jan 2011 build.

Sorry, but that is not true. That is one reason. The SA clearly states 3 types of required updates. AA001 requires a reflash. The second is a USB upgrade at the dealer, this one is to check the fans. As is the first one. However, the first one requires updates through IDS.

Were you a 001 or a 002

Did they do anything to prevent future overheating, or just watch yours so it didn't overheat during the upgrade?

Thanks

Thanks
Just watched it. I asked if it would be a problem in the future during regular use, and was told no.

That's ok - No need to be sorry! What I posted was my experience today at the dealer.

I'm torn here. The Sych site tells me that I should go to the dealer for the update. And I called my dealer about the update and was told that I should wait for the upgrade in the mail. I have an early build (March 2011).

Should I wait or go to the dealer for the update?

i think from what i heard is that for the second version (11A02) they don't just check the fans they set the fans manually on high to prevent overheating. i could be wrong. it still amazes me that the dealers in my area are still partially clueless. I called a third dealer this morning to ask if my VIN is in the 11A01 or 11A02 range and they were like, a um ummm a and then proceeded to read me from the screen about my new warranty that was changed to 4 years bla bla bla because of the issues. She then said ill get you a service advisor, came back and said the service advisor said if your car is working properly then you have the correct installation..... lmfao. thanks for nothing....

rgk, what does it say on your paperwork. someone posted on another thread that the paperwork actually said which version they received (11A02 or 11A02?)

If Sync says to go to the dealer, you won't receive anything via mail.
