Rebuild or replace?

Howdy,
Just this morning I brought my '86 B2 to the transmission shop where they said it was shot. They told me it was an $1,800 rebuild. I was wondering if anybody would know if it would be better to have the auto tranny rebuilt or if it might be better to replace it with a manual? Has anybody done a swap like this before or is it near impossible? Thanks have a great day!

A lot of people have done it. Do a search for it on here. If you have the skills it's not that hard I don't think. The rebuilds on the automatics for whatever reason don't seem to last real well. I would do the swap.
