After I put new EPC, Sonnax valve, Updated sep plate, pressure riser I still have 2-3 flare. I want to get a new or rebuilt valve body, Where can I get one? The rebuilt V/b what is done to it? Is it good as new or better? Thank's for any info. This is for a 2000 explorer XLS 4.0 OHV 4x4.
The transgo kit is a shift upgrade that fixes some inherent problems with the 5r55e shifting. I am by no means an expert, there are much more knowledgable people here than myself when it comes to the tranny. When you had the VB out did you check/clean the entire valve body or just replace those parts.
Have you adjusted your bands?
did you replace the solenoid bracket with the upgraded parts?
when I took my VB apart my bracket was actually bent. I assume this is why they upgraded the part.
Edit: sorry took a phone call and never finished my thoughts.
The bottom line is the transgo kit may fix your problem or maybe not.
Here is what the kit is supposed to fix
1) Forward clutch failure
2) 2/3 cutloose
3) Hard Throttle 2/3 slip
4) 4th and 2nd band failure
5) Coast 3/2 clunk
6) won't move slipping codes 733, 734, 647, 648
I just replaced those parts and Cheked the V/B for metal. Yes I also replaced the bracket. What other part's will I be installing if I go with the transgo kit? Thank's for your help
It's basically a matter of a few springs and valves (stiffen shifts) , a rivet in the Sep plate, Tapered orifice in the 2nd band feed hole, Drilling a hole through the VB, which I think has to do with limp mode functionality, but I could be wrong. There is a 5r55e VB rebuild diary in the stickies check that out for more info..
I have read the valve body guide, But it does'nt say what part's are for what they do? Maybe I will give it a shot and see what it will do. If anyone knows where I can get a rebuilt valve body at please let me know. Thank's
I have the transgo kit on order. This is tfhe weird part, It work's fine when cold then when hot start's the flare. Anyone have any thought's on that? Now that the sep plate has a bonded gasket can I reuse it or do I need a new plate? Thank's

sounds like you have a leak somewhere in the valve body or sep plate, and as the fluid heats up and gets thinner the leak becomes more pronounced. Just a guess
Did you closely follow the 3 step torque procedure when installing the new parts in the valve body. Those aluminum VB's are very prone to twisting and not sealing properly if not properly torqued. I guess when your dealing with close to 300psi it should be expected.
