Recall 24S02 2011-2019 Ford Explorer SUV Recalled Over 'A'-PillarTrim Piece Issue

Sounds exactly the way ours was!!!

Our local Ford dealer inspected our SUV 1st, and then ordered the inner and out "brackets" as they are called.

Left outer "brkt/mldg" took the longest to come in. All new new, free of charge. LOL

Hopefully that is enough cause for them to replace them.
When you make your appointment for them to check, rip them off before you leave the house, and leave them there. Then they'll have no choice.

I kind of thought ours might be aftermarket- We bought ours from the original owner. Didn't know the full history though. I knew the windshield was an OE Ford one.

But I did see part of the old ones the local dealer replaced. FoMoCo was molded into both the inner and outer "brackets".

Our 2016 Limited was approved for replacement in June of 2024 but as of a month ago the dealer still maintains the parts are still on back order with no clue as to when they might get them. Thanks goodness for gorilla tape. At this point I may as well go aftermarket and do the job myself. Apparently those trim pieces were not built Ford tough.

The trim pieces are built tough but the adhesive tape or whatever they use to hold them on isn't.

I get letters and emails all the time saying that I have to get this recall done, but contact the dealer and they say that I'll be contacted when parts are available. .

The failure of the plastic clips is the main issue.

I was talking to a dealer parts manager yesterday, and he said they have plenty of new outers, but they've gotten very few inners so far, so they get used up almost instantly. Apparently, Ford is re-evaluating the inners & making more changes...
Had my Explorer in the shop today and asked about this recall. He said they don't have enough parts to do mine. He said the parts require drilling. So this may be a new design. One of mine is still holding on strong so asked if they will replace parts that are currently holding well. He said yes, they will replace both regardless.
