Receiver Hitch...Bolt on???

Hey all,

I had to order an aftermarket receiver hitch to put on my xploder, cause for some reason mine didn't come factory with one. (totally weak) The guy I ordered it from said that you may need to make some mods for it to fit, if you have a 16" spare. Since I have an EB with 16" wheels, I'm assuming my spare is as well, 16" Anyone have to put on a receiver hitch before? And will I have to make any mods to get it to fit around my spare? Input would be awesome!!

Also, just to brag a little ........ I have to put on a hitch to tow around my brand new Yamaha Raptor 700!!!!

well i just put one on 2 weeks ago..i dont know if it was made for mine or another kind of explorer but it fit.

i had to take off my bumper then lined up the hitch bolt holes into place, then slid the bumper behind it and bolted it all together...only think now is i didnt know my bumper was slanted when i tighten all the bolts..so when ever i any time i'll strighten it

My tube hitch from Kurt fits no problem without removing the bumper. I have a 265/75 R16 spare and it clears as well, its not even close.

I bought a Hidden Hitch for my 96. It took less than 30 minutes to put on and it bolted right up. Did not affect the spare either. Keep in mnind it may depend on the hitch brand. Mine specified "mounts with spare tire in place" while others did not.
